Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after introducing H.Res. 870 with Rep. Mike Pence and Rep. Marsha Blackburn to honor the hundreds of thousands of Americans who participated in the Taxpayer March on Washington, D.C. on September 12, 2009. At the time of its introduction, 76 members of the House of Representatives had signed on to this resolution.

“Last month, hundreds of thousands of Americans from every corner of the country came here to participate in the Taxpayer March on Washington,” said Congressman Price. “They came as individuals, as families, as community groups, and as patriots to voice their disgust with the out-of-control spending and government overreach being pursued in Washington. While these patriots strive for greater prosperity and individual liberty, many of their representatives in Congress seek to give the federal government ever more power and control over their lives. The hundreds of thousands who participated in the September 12 Taxpayer March on Washington sent out a clarion call for our citizens to take back control of their government. This event was a great step forward for the causes of freedom and limited government. Through continued efforts, these patriots will once again make accountability and responsibility core values in a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
