Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement in response to the United Nations Human Rights Council’s one-sided endorsement of the “Report of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict,” also known as the Goldstone Report.

“Israel has every right to defend itself from attack by violent extremists, and the Israeli military often takes extraordinary precautions to prevent the loss of innocent lives,” said Congressman Price. “Hamas and other violent extremists, on the other hand, have a history of hiding behind innocent civilians in the schools, hospitals, and mosques from which they launch their attacks on the Israeli people. No organization legitimately concerned with human rights could ignore these repugnant practices, yet that is precisely what the so-called Human Rights Council has done by endorsing this horribly biased world view.

“The UN Human Rights Council is a fraudulent body that allows the world’s most oppressive regimes to launch hypocritical attacks against Israel and her democratic allies. The United States did the right thing by voting against this report, but it is an embarrassment that we even participate in this terrorist-coddling Council. Both it and the Goldstone Report are affronts to our cherished ideals of freedom, democracy, and the right to self defense.”
