Rep. Tom Price (GA-06) issued the following statement in response to the passing of former Georgia State Senator Joe Burton. Before Congress, Price served with Senator Burton in the State Senate.

“Joe Burton was a dear friend and all who knew him are deeply saddened to learn by his passing,” said Rep. Price. “Joe was an exemplary and impassioned public servant. He was a grand champion of common sense and loved and served his constituents with honor for decades. He touched people’s lives in real ways and was stalwart in his advocacy, especially for children. Improving the lives of Georgians was always his motivation, and his vast positive impact on our state will live on with his memory. Joe was a wonderfully cheerful colleague who inspired all who were privileged to serve with him. Georgia has lost a great leader; but more importantly his family has lost a great man. Betty and I offer our sincerest condolences to his wife, Bessie, and the entire Burton family.”
