U.S. Cuts Missile Defense While Iranians Test Latest Missiles
Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement in response to reports that Iran has test-fired missiles capable of hitting Israel and parts of Europe.
“The Iranian government’s continued development of missile technology presents a growing threat to America and our allies,” said Congressman Price. “Reportedly able to carry a nuclear warhead, these missiles are intended to provide a strong offensive strike capability. Iran’s expanding missile program and its obvious drive for nuclear weapons must be taken seriously. It would be sheer folly for the United States not to utilize an available protection against the real and growing threat of a missile-borne nuclear attack from Iran. Yet, the Obama administration has weakened our missile defense capabilities by cutting $1.2 billion in funding and abruptly cancelling a site-hosting agreement with our allies in Poland and the Czech Republic. The threat from Iran and other nations will grow ever stronger in the years to come. If we do not adequately prepare ourselves today, we will not be in a position to protect ourselves in the future.”
