International Appeasement over National Security is Dangerous

Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement in response to the Obama administration’s decision to cancel a missile defense site program in Eastern Europe.

“This decision is nothing but reckless,” said Congressman Price. “The threat of a missile-delivered nuclear warhead from Iran continues to grow. Rather than prepare for and deter this threat, the President has crumpled before the wishes of Moscow and Tehran and was apparently assured of no concessions in return. In addition to cancelling this program, the Obama administration has proposed double-digit cuts to missile defense funding.

“Recent intelligence reports make clear that Iranian missile programs are a serious threat to our allies. Iran already has enough nuclear fuel to build a nuclear weapon, and the development of missile technology is being aided by other rogue nations. A commander-in-chief’s first priority is national security, yet it has taken a backseat to international appeasement. This is a sad, dangerous day for America and our allies.”
