White House Continues Farcical “Saved or Created” Claim
Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisors released a report making the unsubstantiated claim that the so-called Recovery Act has “saved or created” more than 1 million jobs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, America has lost at least 200,000 jobs per month for each month since passage of the President’s spending package.
“The Obama administration routinely makes nonsensical claims about the economy, but this one may take the cake,” said Congressman Price. “The fuzzy math used to produce these claims of jobs ‘saved or created’ bears no resemblance to anything our children learn in school. One wonders how the White House still expects Americans to believe any of their assertions about deficits, the cost of health care reform, or the effects of their failed attempt at economic stimulus. Considering the so-called Recovery Act is little more than a spending binge for liberal constituencies, it’s no surprise the White House has to fudge the numbers to make it look successful.”
