Americans Should Have Time to Review Democrat Health Care Plan

What’s the Rush?

Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement urging Congressional Democrats to allow the American people time to review their proposals for health care reform. Democrat leaders in Congress and the President continue to insist that the House pass a sweeping bill in the next two weeks.

“Health care reform is far too important to rush through Congress without careful consideration and review,” said Congressman Price. “Changes to our health care system will have an enormous impact on every single American, and it is absolutely essential that the reforms we implement are appropriate and properly designed. This will not happen if Democrat leaders once again insist on ramming a thousand-plus page bill through without Congress reading it.

“If the Democrats believe their proposal is truly what Americans seek, why do they insist on enforcing an artificial timeline? Why not allow the American people time to read and understand this legislation? Our country needs health care reform, but the dangers of blindly rushing ahead are significant – and everyone knows it. I urge my colleagues to give the American people adequate time to review the proposals being considered by Congress before we vote on them. Let the people’s voices be heard.”
